Katy Hegg is the Founder of Lyeska, a Brooklyn-based company that offers natural, effective and responsibly produced skincare products. Growing up in Russia’s remote Far East, Katya always enjoyed watching her mother and grandmother use botanical ingredients gathered from the garden and nearby forests to create natural skincare potions and masks to beautify their skin. Those memories and experiences always guided her to opt for natural skincare options.
After living in Los Angeles for 10 years and studying International Business, Katya made a move to the Big Apple and worked in the medical sales arena. Although she enjoyed her job, her big aspiration was to create an ethical and sustainable business that supports healthy lifestyle and share the unique gifts and traditions of her home country. Most importantly, Katya wanted to do something she loved.
After long research and discovery of how many “natural” skincare products contain numerous unhealthy chemicals, allergens and irritants, Katya decided to create her own skincare line that would use only pure, organic and wild harvested ingredients along with core oil (Siberian cedar nut oil) sourced directly from her home region. Lyeska is a sustainable brand with purpose. A portion of their proceeds support initiatives by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to protect and sustain wildlife and Siberian forests.
Katya lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two little boys. She starts her day with a cup of coffee, positive attitude and a long to-do list. In her free time she spins in the Soul Cycle studio, does yoga and enjoys quite times reading a book or watching a movie. Her biggest motto in life is to be a good example for her children, continue learning and always try to find small enjoyments for herself throughout the day.
After joining Lipstick Sister in 2014, Katya was truly amazed and inspired by all the talented, beautiful, strong-minded women. After a few gatherings, she realized that Lipstick Sister created an environment where women could truly feel comfortable, lift each other up, support each other and provide that feeling of having another family.
